Gemini Man was a 1976 sci-fi series

Gemini Man captivated audiences with its unique blend of action, espionage, and futuristic technology. Harve Bennett and Michael Sloan created the show about an adventure seeking deep sea diver Sam Casey, who, after a bizarre accident has the superpower of invisibility for 15 mins every 24 hours. His secret special gift, gets him recruited as a government spy.

Ben Murphy portrays Sam Casey,  a talented spy working for a top-secret government agency known as INTERSECT. Unbeknownst to his colleagues, with the help of a special watch, embedded with experimental technology called the “Gemini Factor”,  Sam could activate his invisible state and tackle dangerous missions with stealth and agility.

Katherine Crawford, playing Abby Lawrence, a brilliant scientist and potential love interest to Sam, joins him in each episode of Gemini Man.  She is responsible for saving his life with the stabilizing effects of the Gemini Factor. She coordinated the research into making his watch and provides technical support to him during his missions. Each episode of Gemini Man follows Sam as he took on assignments that required his unique abilities. From infiltrating criminal organizations to foiling international conspiracies, Sam used his invisibility to gather information, outsmart adversaries, and save the day.

Gemini Man was cancelled after just one season, with its final episode airing in 1977. The show had its strengths, with solid performances by its cast and a unique and intriguing premise. However, it was up against the iconic Charlie’s Angels, the 6 Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman, and it cost more to produce as the special effects of invisibility were more demanding than the slow-motion and sound effects of bionics. Nevertheless, Gemini Man left a lasting impression on fans of science fiction and espionage, with its concept of invisibility continuing to influence popular culture in subsequent years.

Slaughterhouse Five is a 1972 film.

Directed by George Roy Hill, Slaughterhouse Five was based on a time-travel novel by the same name, written by Kurt Vonnegut. It was directed by George Roy Hill. Slaughterhouse Five tells the story of Billy Pilgrim, a WWII soldier who becomes “unstuck in time” and experiences moments from his past, present, and future, out of order. A classic of American literature, Slaughter House Five explores the human experience including themes of war and death.

Crypto Exchange

The non-linear storytelling, gives the viewer the same disjointed confusion that one would expect it’s hero to be experiencing as he leaps about in time. The film’s unconventional narrative structure, creates a unique and immersive viewing experience, as the audience goes through the same events from multiple perspectives. Michael Sacks in his portrayal of Billy Pilgrim, is another standout aspect of Slaughterhouse Five. Sacks perfectly captures the vulnerability and intensity of the role, making his character very relatable.

Make women lose control

Despite its many strengths, Slaughterhouse Five is not without its flaws. The easily offended might find it’s depiction of violence and bleak world view disturbing, but for those who have been through tough times, this can be understood as how life is for some. Others lacking focus, may find it’s slow pace and confusing narrative structure, challenging to follow. But if you can handle war movies or like time travel films, it is not one to miss.

Check out RollerBall

Despite these criticisms, Slaughterhouse Five is a powerful and unforgettable film. A classic of American literature, it is widely regarded as one of the defining films of the 1970s. Its impact on the film industry and its influence on subsequent generations of filmmakers cannot be overstated. Whether you’re a fan of war films, science fiction, or simply a good story, at least once in your lifetime, you should tune in and go along for the ride, that is Slaughterhouse Five.

Otherworld- Was a short lived sci-fi fantasy released in 1985. It is true family entertainment where a family visiting the pyramids in Egypt gets swept into a vortex that transports them to a parallel world where societies are isolated from each other. In each episode, the family must face conflict brought on by extreme xenophobia and differing cultural norms, much like Sliders encountered a decade later, but the dynamic of a 1980s nuclear family is very different than the heroes of Sliders.

These 8 episodes are only available from VCR recordings, so this digital copy is not high quality. But this is an otherwise lost program, so enjoy it for what it is.

The family’s nemesis is played by Jonathan Banks better known from Breaking Bad. He is first to encounter the Sterling family when they reach the Otherworld. He is a trooper responsible for maintaining the boundaries called forbidden zones between isolated provinces. Each province has it’s own set of social norms and laws. The struggle and ensuing escape from him gives the family his access crystal which allows them to open any door and thereby gain access to any province they come across. So while traveling looking for a way home, the Sterlings are also being ruthlessly pursued by him.

David Cronenberg, now cemented as one of the greats when it comes to sci-fi horror, started his mainstream career with Shivers in 1975.

Shivers is a prime example of what became Cronenberg’s signature style…body horror, where physical changes gross out or titillate the viewer while manifesting into a psychological thriller. The film featuring Paul Hampton, Lynn Lowry and Barbara Steele was alternatively titled as The Parasite Murders and They Came From Within. If you watch carefully, you may be able to spot a young Cronenberg as a background extra.

The movie was shot on location in a high rise apt complex called Starliner Towers for the film. Things start of with a murder mystery when Dr. Hobbs kills a petite young woman. He posthumously cuts open her abdomen and dowses the cavity in acid then slits his own throat. An adulterous neighbor enters the apt shortly thereafter and sneaks away again without reporting the crime. The Starliner Towers has a medical facility on property, and the resident Doctor, Roger St. Luc has a lunch appointment to meet Dr. Hobbs upstairs at the location of the murder, so he discovers the horrid scene and calls the police.

Dr. St. Luc contacts Hobbes’ research partner, Rollo Linsky to discuss his obviously premeditated murder-suicide. Dr. Linsky tells him that the pair had been working on creating a parasite that could replace an organ and symbiotically function in the organ’s place. As Dr St. Luc continues with his day, we are introduced to a range of Starliner residents. Linksky, who has gone to clear out his partner’s office, phones Dr. St. Luc to tell him that Hobbes’ research notes revealed that he had used the murder victim as a guinea pig for a parasite that both replaces organs but also makes people mindlessly sex crazed. He warns him to not approach anyone acting strangely.

What do you get when you mix a small town in Pennsylvania and a bunch of teens making out? You get the 1958 classic, The Blob!

Somewhere in small town rural Pennsylvania, a couple of teenagers were making out when when spotted a meteorite crash. Obviously bored with kissing and fondling each other and having no common sense, they decide to investigate and are joined by an old man that lives nearby. When this trio finds the meteorite the old man pokes at it with a stick and and a jelly-like blob attaches to his hand. The 2 teenagers rush the old man to the hospital where a doctor decides the only action they can take is to amputate the man’s arm. Unfortunately the blob grows and consumes the doctor and his nurse. However fortunately for us the movie doesn’t end there because the blob continues to grow and threatens to wreak havoc on the civilized world!

A married couple and their children move to the quiet town of Stepford and everything seems perfect — perhaps far too perfect. There’s something strange with the women of this sleepy suburb. They all seem to be fanatically devoted to their household chores and subservient to their husbands. Newly arrived Joanna Eberhart makes friends with another of the town’s recent arrivals and together they investigate the truth behind the behavior of the Stepford wives and stumble into a horror.

Perhaps the most amazing part of this story is that there now exists numerous groups of women that strive to be just like the Stepford wives. It’s obviously not a lifestyle for everyone but if they enjoy it then who are we to judge? But I think it would be nice to visit the home of a Stepford wife just for afternoon tea.

The Earthship Ark was created to save humanity when Earths destruction became eminent. The multi-generational starship is 50 miles (80 km) wide and 200 miles (320 km) long, containing dozens of biospheres, housing people of different cultures. The Ark’s purpose is to find and seed a new world of a distant star. Everything is running smoothly until an unexplained accident in 2385, (more than 100 years into the voyage,) when each biosphere gets sealed off from the others under emergency protocols.

The story picks up in 2790, 405 years after the accident, when Devon (Keir Dullea) who resides in an agrarian community modeled after the Amish, discovers that his world is far larger and more mysterious than he had ever imagined. Already considered an outcast because he questions his elders over the arranged marriage of his love, Rachel (Gay Rowan) to his friend Garth (Robin Ward); Devon finds out that “the Voice of the Creator” is really a voice-altered prerecording used to manipulate the local people to the elders desires. The congregation pursues Devon for attacking the elders and stealing a computer cassette, and its leaders plot to execute him, but the aged Abraham, who also questions the leaders, gives Devon a key to a dark, mysterious doorway, which he has been afraid to enter. The frightened Devon escapes into the service areas of the ship, where he finds a computer terminal that explains the nature and purpose of the Ark, while hinting at its problems.

Enjoying a 5 year run from 1973 to 1978 this TV show was a hit for Lee Majors. It spun off both a 2nd hit show, The Bionic Woman, and a very successful toy line. It’s easy to imagine the children of the 1970s pretending to have bionics as they played and rough housed. Even today this TV series is not without it’s appeal and can still attract a sizeable viewing audience.

Lee Majors portrays USAF Colonel Steve Austin who is a former astronaut. Due to a NASA test flight crash, Austin is severely wounded, loosing both his legs, right arm and right eye. He’s rebuilt using bionic implants that give him superhuman strength, agility, and vision and all for the cost of six million dollars. After the surgery he begins his new career as a secret agent employed by the U.S. government agency titled OSI. This TV series was inspired by Martin Caidin’s novel Cyborg
