Slaughterhouse Five is a 1972 film.

Directed by George Roy Hill, Slaughterhouse Five was based on a time-travel novel by the same name, written by Kurt Vonnegut. It was directed by George Roy Hill. Slaughterhouse Five tells the story of Billy Pilgrim, a WWII soldier who becomes “unstuck in time” and experiences moments from his past, present, and future, out of order. A classic of American literature, Slaughter House Five explores the human experience including themes of war and death.

Crypto Exchange

The non-linear storytelling, gives the viewer the same disjointed confusion that one would expect it’s hero to be experiencing as he leaps about in time. The film’s unconventional narrative structure, creates a unique and immersive viewing experience, as the audience goes through the same events from multiple perspectives. Michael Sacks in his portrayal of Billy Pilgrim, is another standout aspect of Slaughterhouse Five. Sacks perfectly captures the vulnerability and intensity of the role, making his character very relatable.

Make women lose control

Despite its many strengths, Slaughterhouse Five is not without its flaws. The easily offended might find it’s depiction of violence and bleak world view disturbing, but for those who have been through tough times, this can be understood as how life is for some. Others lacking focus, may find it’s slow pace and confusing narrative structure, challenging to follow. But if you can handle war movies or like time travel films, it is not one to miss.

Check out RollerBall

Despite these criticisms, Slaughterhouse Five is a powerful and unforgettable film. A classic of American literature, it is widely regarded as one of the defining films of the 1970s. Its impact on the film industry and its influence on subsequent generations of filmmakers cannot be overstated. Whether you’re a fan of war films, science fiction, or simply a good story, at least once in your lifetime, you should tune in and go along for the ride, that is Slaughterhouse Five.

“V” The Final Battle miniseries is the conclusion to the original

“V” The Final Battle is a three part series made to conclude the popular “V” the original miniseries. The show, first aired in 1984, just a year after the original, while interest in the characters and the new sci-fi was high. This gripping series is a much needed follow up to the original, following a group of human rebels as they fight against an invading force of aliens who have taken over Earth.

“V” The Final Battle is the conclusion to the original mini series that aired in 1983.

One of the most enthralling aspects of “V: The Final Battle” is its ability to keep tensions high and maintain the sense of danger throughout the series. The aliens, known as Visitors, are portrayed as ruthless and powerful, and the human characters are constantly struggling to stay alive and resist their oppression. This makes for a thrilling and suspenseful viewing experience.

Pheromone Infused Soap Attracts Women

Like the original, “V” the Final Battle also does a great job of exploring themes of power, oppression, and resistance. It raises questions about what it means to be human, and the importance of standing up for oneself and others. The series also deals with the moral implications of fighting against an enemy, the importance of unity and the cost of freedom.

Perhaps the best reason to watch “V” the Final Battle is its triumphant outcome. The viewer is imbued with hope and optimism by the end, with the Visitors being defeated and the humans reclaiming their planet. The intense final battle is epic; a powerful reminder that even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds, the human spirit can triumph.

In conclusion, “V: The Final Battle” is a must-watch for fans of science fiction and political drama. Perhaps the most compelling message here is a reminder of what we seem to have lost as a society. In the age of superhero films; we forget that no-one is coming to save us from real life’s tyranny. When faced with an overwhelming foe, it is the strong who protect each other. Like the “V” miniseries, victory of the oppressed is dependent upon uniting our efforts, revealing our true enemy instead of letting them divide us into squabbling camps. As for the weak, they empower these dark forces and ultimately are it’s most numerable victims. So we should watch both the original “V” miniseries and its sequel, “V” the Final Battle, to learn how to recognize tyranny. Hope prevails when true heroes get involved to the best of their capacities, never expecting someone else to fight their battles for them. The only losers are those who self-righteously embrace oppression, because they will trading in their livelihood for someone else’s vision of how they should live (and die).

“V” the Original miniseries was released 1983 in two parts.

“V” the Original miniseries is a story is of a totalitarian alien race known as the Visitors, who come to Earth in seemingly peaceful ships and promise to share their advanced technology with humanity. Their arrival is worldwide, everyone is addressed in their own languages, and the aliens even look like us. However, as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that the Visitors have a sinister agenda, and a small group of human rebels must band together to stop them.

Created by Kenneth Johnson, “V” the Original miniseries and was a huge ratings success when it first aired. This led to a sequel movie series, “V” the Final Battle, a spin-off weekly series, and a 2008 reboot. The series is a science fiction classic, and it is still considered one of the most iconic and influential science fiction shows of all time. The lead actors, including Marc Singer, Faye Grant, and Jane Badler, all deliver strong performances and are able to convey the complex emotions and motivations of their characters. The Visitors themselves, portrayed by actors in alien makeup, are also extremely well-done and are able to convey a sense of otherness and menace.

Get lucky with women using pheromone infused soap

Tension and suspense are slowly built up in “V” the Original miniseries. The Visitors’ true nature is slowly revealed, keeping the audience guessing to their true intentions, until the very end. The show also does a great job of exploring the themes of trust, betrayal, and resistance, and it raises important questions about the nature of freedom and the dangers of blindly following authority.

Overall, “V” the Original miniseries is a classic science fiction tale, worthy of a watch today. The acting, special effects, and suspenseful story make it a compelling, but its exploration of political themes and questions of freedom and authority, make it a must see thought-provoking piece of science fiction. While it may have some flaws, the current political climate and worldwide recent power consolidations make it a series not to miss..

Alien (1979)

Alien was a film that sparked a legacy of 7 (so far) sequels. Combining science fiction and horror, it juxtaposes humanity’s curiosity with it’s fear of the unknown, and comes away with an original chilling tale. The cryogenics and inter-galactic travel as it is portrayed is still beyond our reach, but has become widely accepted within the scifi genre and is there by conceivable given that the movie’s timeline is 100 years in our future. But perhaps the most compelling aspect of believably is the underlying politics, exploited (read expendable) workers versus corporate greed. Where employees, (not all men, or even all white) sign on for a grunt job, while being kept ignorant of the risks and even the nature of their activities.

BUY VINTAGE VINYL RECORDS

For me, Alien is a great film because of Sigourney Weaver as Ripley. Forget the R rating and her running around in white panties, Sigourney plays a heroine that we can follow. First she is a leader among her working crew; she even assumes this role when her superiors are compromised. But more than that she has the stature, and calm focus that people can look up too. Then when things get really heated, she doesn’t rely on superpowers or some fantastical skill, she just puts her wits and the tools at hand against the enemy and narrowly escapes. For me she did an intergalactic “Die-Hard” almost 10 years before Bruce Willis, but then again the book on which his film was based was written in 1979…could this have inspired its writer?

Watch Dr. Susan Block TV

The Alien franchise includes of films includes 4 with Sigourney Weaver, as well as a prequel. There are also 2 spin off alien monster battle movies (reminiscent of Godzilla) combining this acid bleeding toothy widemouthed Alien with the game-hunting alien of the Predator movies. Alien struck a cord with the public, and has been entered into the collective psyche, through films, novels, comics, and video games. Why not watch the movie that started it all?

Mad Max debuted in 1979

Set in a post-apocalyptic Australia, Mad Max is an action film series created by George Miller and Byron Kennedy. It follows the adventures of police officer Max Rockatansky who patrols the roads of a society in collapse due to war and resource shortages. His life takes a dark turn when his wife and child are murdered by a biker gang. He becomes a vigilante and and takes revenge for his family by killing the bikers. Attention…this is VERY VIOLENT, if you don’t have the stomach for gore, select something else to watch.

Most of the movie was filmed in and around Melbourne and lasted for six weeks. It was Mel Gibson’s first lead role, for which he earned $15K. Mad Max was filmed on a budget of $400k but earned more than $100 million usd world wide. The film held the Guinness record for the most profitable film. Some unknown sources credit this movie with helping to create a demand for Australian New Wave films. Being low budget means being low tech, and this makes Mad Max hyper realistic and relatable, a movie viewers connect with.

Mad Max stands the test of time as both a cult classic and a work of art. and has inspired 3 sequels, the first two with Mel Gibson reprising his role. Gibson’s portrayal of the anti-hero is in direct contrast to his more likable and charismatic roles in other moves. Bringing to life a character that’s induces emotions of love, hate and pity in a plot centered around revenge only demonstrate the great talent of Gibson, already evident at 21. Mad Max 2 released in 1981 went by the Road Warrior in America. Beyond Thunderdome saw Gibson make his first million dollar salary. Released in 1985 and co-staring Tina Turner, it was highly anticipated. Road Fury in 2015 had Tom Hardy replace Gibson portraying Max Rockantansky. And a 4th sequel is in the works.

The movie The Twilight Zone hit theaters in 1983

Produced by Steven Spielberg, working in collaboration with 3 other directors this homage to the 1960s TV show and it’s creator Rod Sterling is a series of 4 vignettes. The movie was marketed as a horror, scifi, but given the quality of horror films of it’s era, it is disappointing in this regard. Due to it’s science fiction and nostalgic appeal however, the movie was a box-office success, giving the green light for a subsequent relaunch of an updated Twilight zone TV series and should be watched if you are a fan of either series.

The movie begins with great music and an introductory prologue starring Dan Aykroyd which helps to tie the vignettes together. This and the first segment were directed by John Landis (Trading Places & Micheal Jackson’s Thriller). The first segment takes a Twilight Zone look at racism. Spielberg directed the second segment, a more whimsical look at life, aging, and missed opportunities. The third portion is directed by Joe Dante (Innerspace & The Burbs), this story is an actual remake of a 1960s episode about a child with the power to create his heart’s desire. Lastly George Miller (Mad Max) directs John Lithgow in a personal horror about gremlins and a fear of flying. Lithgow, as always, is superb; he depicts an aerophobic man whose anxieties descend into panic, followed by a psychological breakdown when he witnesses a gremlin tearing apart the plane that he is in.

Nostalgia, vintage and memorabilia lovers are going to really enjoy this movie. The Twilight Zone movie encapsulates the 1980s not only with both it’s look and feel but also its method of story telling. True to the original show’s plot twists, this movie incorporated the new wave and heavy metal bubble gum culture of the era. When the movie is over you almost want to buy some vinyl records and get a big hair style.

Otherworld- Was a short lived sci-fi fantasy released in 1985. It is true family entertainment where a family visiting the pyramids in Egypt gets swept into a vortex that transports them to a parallel world where societies are isolated from each other. In each episode, the family must face conflict brought on by extreme xenophobia and differing cultural norms, much like Sliders encountered a decade later, but the dynamic of a 1980s nuclear family is very different than the heroes of Sliders.

These 8 episodes are only available from VCR recordings, so this digital copy is not high quality. But this is an otherwise lost program, so enjoy it for what it is.

The family’s nemesis is played by Jonathan Banks better known from Breaking Bad. He is first to encounter the Sterling family when they reach the Otherworld. He is a trooper responsible for maintaining the boundaries called forbidden zones between isolated provinces. Each province has it’s own set of social norms and laws. The struggle and ensuing escape from him gives the family his access crystal which allows them to open any door and thereby gain access to any province they come across. So while traveling looking for a way home, the Sterlings are also being ruthlessly pursued by him.

Heavy Metal is an animated cartoon style film made specifically for adults; for fans, predominantly male, of Heavy Metal magazine and music. The film showcases a collection of sci-fi fantasy stories adapted from the magazine for the screen, complete with graphic violence, nudity and sexuality fans have enjoyed in the magazine. An unusual cinematic offering for anytime, Heavy Metal was not loved by all critics and did not exactly achieve blockbuster status, it has however developed a cult following.

The story opens with a Corvette dropping from a space shuttle to earth. It’s occupant and astronaut Grimaldi presents his daughter with a orb called the Loc-Nar that destroys him. This evil entity then shows the girl how it has dominated societies throughout time.

Unlike typical animation, the Heavy Metal movie used rotoscoping. Max Fleisher developed the rotoscope which projects live action to be traced over frame by frame making a real live scene into something drawn. The result is a film that is worth seeing just for the technical aspects, but will probably be remembered for its music, and sexually titillating scenes.

This movie assembles a stellar cast including Kirk Douglas, Charles Durning, James Farentino, Katharine Ross and Martin Sheen. Don Taylor directed the scifi, while Peter Vincent Douglas and Lloyd Kaufman were the producers.

A science fiction war film about a modern nuclear-powered-aircraft carrier that travels through time to the day before the December 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor. Produced by Peter Vincent Douglas and Lloyd Kaufman and directed by Don Taylor, the film contains an ensemble cast starring Kirk Douglas, Martin Sheen, James Farentino, Katharine Ross and Charles Durning.

The USS Nimitz, a nuclear powered carrier leaves Pearl Harbor in 1980 for the mid-Pacific to conduct naval exercises. Martin Sheen plays Warren Lasky a civilian systems analyst for the warship’s manufacturer, who is taken along on a mission for the government working as an expert in efficiency.

Flashing lights and electrical phenomena suddenly envelope the Nimitz and draw it into a vortex. All of the ship’s techincal equipment fails as her crew drops to the floor in pain when it makes contact with the vortex. When they can get back on their feet again, they are still in the mid Pacific, but they have no contact with the fleet command at Pearl Harbor. Kirk Douglas as Captain Yelland is convinced that the radio silence is due to a nucleaar attack on the USA. He launches reconnaissance aircraft RF-8 Crusaders who return with images of Hawaii from 1941, including a photo of Battleship row containing all the battleships ready to go.

The US Department of Defense and Navy worked with the film production, using the real vessel USS Nimitz (CVN-68) as the set. The background imagines and scenes are of actual operations aboard the vessel. The film Final Countdown was a relative success when first released.
