]]> Enjoying a 5 year run from 1973 to 1978 this TV show was a hit for Lee Majors. It spun off both a 2nd hit show, The Bionic Woman, and a very successful toy line. It’s easy to imagine the children of the 1970s pretending to have bionics as they played and rough housed. Even today this TV series is not without it’s appeal and can still attract a sizeable viewing audience.

Lee Majors portrays USAF Colonel Steve Austin who is a former astronaut. Due to a NASA test flight crash, Austin is severely wounded, loosing both his legs, right arm and right eye. He’s rebuilt using bionic implants that give him superhuman strength, agility, and vision and all for the cost of six million dollars. After the surgery he begins his new career as a secret agent employed by the U.S. government agency titled OSI. This TV series was inspired by Martin Caidin’s novel Cyborg
