Ultraman the original 1966 series

Ultraman a pioneering Japanese television series, originally aired from 1966 to 1967. Created by Eiji Tsuburaya, the series marks the beginning of what would become the most spin-off producing franchise ever. Ultraman follows the adventures of an extraterrestrial superhero, an Ultra, who defends Earth from giant monsters and alien threats.

Enjoy watching Prince Planet

The series begins with the arrival of a mysterious alien, Ultraman, who comes to Earth to assist the Science Patrol, a special team tasked with protecting humanity from giant kaiju (monsters).  But for all his strength, Ultraman’s power is limited by Earth’s environmental factors, draining quickly and needing recharge. Ultraman saves one of the science patrol, Shin Hayata, from a near fatal accident, fusing with him and remaining dorment until his extrodinary strength is needed to push back the impending alien / monster threats.

The show’s plot revolves around these battles against various monsters, who each pose a unique threat to humanity. When danger arises, Ultraman emerges from Hayata’s body and uses his incredible size, strength, and special abilities to combat these threats. His main weapon is the Specium Ray, which can defeat even the most formidable monsters. The transformation from Hayata to Ultraman is a key dramatic element of the series, showcasing a blend of action and character development.

Cuck Dollars

The series special – effects, while cheesy by today’s standards, were ground breaking in the 60s. The costume for Ultraman changed after the first 13 episodes, then again for the 30th episode. Each episode was a combination of action, drama, with a morality tale. The concluding message of courage, teamwork, and the importance of protecting the environment may be in part reason for the longevity of the Ultraman franchise. While the show’s special effects and monster designs might seem dated by modern standards, they hold a nostalgic charm and remain influential in the genre.

Prince Planet is a 1965 anime series

Prince Planet is a series of stories about a young alien visiting earth. From a planet called Radion, in the English versions, he is curious about humans, and while learning about them, does what he can to protect them from evil forces. The classic animation style is monochrome with vibrant landscapes and character designs.

The central themes of the series revolve around friendship, bravery, and the importance of using technology for good. Always willing to help those in need, Prince Planet himself is a relatable and genuinely likeable character, who is curious about the world around him. The supporting cast of personalities, be they friend or foe, add depth and humor to the show.

The anime Wizards was released in 1977

The action scenes in Prince Planet are well-choreographed and feature exciting battles between the supernatural Prince and his enemies. There is an imaginative use of technology, such as the prince’s transforming spaceship and the various gadgets and weapons he uses. This fun, futuristic component to the series, makes it concurrent with the theme of amines of today, in spite of its lack of color.

One of the standout elements of Prince Planet is its catchy and upbeat theme song, written by Guy Hemric and Jerry Styner, who were better known for their Beach Party movie soundtracks. The song perfectly captures the adventurous spirit of the series. The show’s soundtrack is also noteworthy, with memorable and fitting tracks that add to the show’s overall atmosphere.

In conclusion, the classic anime series Prince Planet deserves recognition for its imaginative storytelling, memorable characters, and exciting action. Its themes of friendship, bravery, and the responsible use of technology still resonate with today’s audiences, creating a timeless and entertaining watch for fans of the sci-fi anime genre.

Dr Seuss, wrote How the Grinch Stole Christmas back in 1957.

How the Grinch stole Christmas written by Dr. Seuss. He was a celebrated author had only been writing children’s books for 3 years, having started in 1954 with the Cat in the Hat as a literacy project to encourage 1st grade reading. By 1966, when the animated special How the Grinch Stole Christmas aired on television, he was a household name. And the beloved special airing year after year became a favorite for many referred to simply as The Grinch.

Movie about a squirrel making Christmas happy

The television adaptation of How the Grinch Stole Christmas did more than bring to life the rhymes of Dr. Seuss with the eerie baritone voice of Boris Karloff. It gave us music. The song, “You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch”, also written By Dr. Seuss, is a holiday favorite. Just as the Grinch has become an icon to represent any cankerous person lacking the well-wishing, good-nature holiday spirit. But he does more than replace the Victorian penny pinching Ebenezer Scrooge, who was a cut throat business man. The Grinch, by comparison, is a common thief, who could be from any walk of life. An outcast in his hatred, from all the righteous qualities that traditionally have flourished in this season.

Introduction to animal science

The silly rhymes of Dr. Seuss stick with us through the years. Although the particular scenes of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, are visually unforgettable. Seeing him sneaking and snaking around. The decorations disappearing up the chimney, pour Max burdened with the load, how he conned Little Cindy Lou Who. But I believe the real beauty of the story is the redemption of the Grinch. He gets away, but the people of Whoville celebrated anyway and he has an epiphany. He returns to undo his terrible deed and the people welcome him as one of them. Doesn’t everyone with regrets wish that they could undo things just as easily, and feel that warmth and love?

Frosty the Snowman is a 1969 cartoon

Released as a half hour TV Christmas special for children. Another Rankin/Bass production, like Rudolph the Red Nosed reindeer, it is based on the 1950’s children’s song Frosty the Snowman. This cartoon brings to life the song’s lyrics like the magic hat brought Frosty to life. It even gives a back story to the magical hat by providing an antagonist in the form of an unskilled children’s entertainer, who threw away his top hat in a fit of frustration.

Woo Who Vintage

This TV special has bright colors, and a light heart spirit, interlaced with slightly slapstick comedy. Frosty the Snowman, quizzically speaks in full sentences, but can’t count past 5, yet somehow he knows that he must go to the North Pole to stay cold! As a very logical child 6 year old, I remember questioning the juxtaposition of innate knowledge and ignorance, even before I knew the word to describe it. Still the cartoon was one of my favorites for the magical Christmas theme and simple comedy. I even spent the winter I was 10 doing belly wops like Frosty the Snowman, to toboggan down my grade school snow-hill. I gradually ruined my snowsuit in the process, but what a way to go!

Rankin/Bass went on to produce two of the four sequels to this original cartoon. In 1976, Frosty’s Winter Wonderland was based on the Christmas song Winter Wonderland. It was followed by Rudolph and Frosty’s Christmas in July in 1979. Then in 1992, Bill Melendez Productions made a new world for our hero. The result was Frosty Returns, with Johnathon Winters narrating and John Goodman taking over the voice of Frosty. The last edition of this song inspired, cartoon character came out in 2005, titled the Legend of Frosty the Snowman, but it went direct to video.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (1964) is a Rankin/Bass Production

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer was created before Rankin Bass and their stop motion animation films made them a household name. The Christmas special became a staple for children annually from it’s first transmission in 1964. Being shown with various edits and deletions along the way. This version is most complete, with the misfit song, the whole instrumental section of the “We are Santa’s Elves” song, Yukon Cornelius striking peppermint, and of course Santa’s stop on the Ilse of Misfit Toys.

Buy Christmas Gifts

Everyone knows the children’s song Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, which was released in 1949. The boomers and every subsequent generation, literally grew up with this magical image of Santa’s sleigh being pulled by these flying reindeer. Re-watching it as an adult I was at first taken aback at Santa’s initially callous attitude towards Rudolph. But as a child, I hadn’t even noticed this beloved adult joining in the ridicule. Reflecting on everything, I have come to the conclusion that this animation captured a social reality that has been clouded by woke ideologies and domination of the current narrative.

Yukon Cornelius loves Bitcoin!

So I hope as you watch Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer this year you take these things to heart. One, misfits are everywhere, and they often come together when ostracized; but even among the misfits there are cliques; Cornelius, Hermey and Rudolph were not welcome to live with the toys. (We are tribal, you can’t force everyone to love you). our individualism can even save the day when we embrace our uniqueness. Two, true friends don’t care what if you are different, and there is someone out there for everyone; Clarice liked Rudolph and not only didn’t care what other’s thought, but joined his family to hunt for him. (Love is blind, and conquers all) . Three, when someone who doesn’t fit in, does something exceptional, he is a hero. Rudolph wasn’t the only hero; Herbie, who pursued his dream to be a dentist, pulled the teeth from the Abominable Snowman, nullifying his ability to terrorize everyone.

The Dick Van Dyke show ran for 5 seasons 1961 – 1966, in the era of the Kennedy’s. Wholesome family entertainment, shot in Black and White, the 151 episodes gave a behind the scenes look at comedy writer’s work super-imposed with the everyday life and expectations of a traditional family. Unlike most family sitcoms at the time, which often focused on the children, the Dick Van Dyke show was all about the grownups, their professional and social responsibilities, confrontations and reconciliations. Always a class act, always a happy ending, but people got to see mayhem and mishaps, mistakes and misunderstandings, even fights and feuds, often glossed over in other shows….with a cast that could not just role with the punches (punch-lines) but also who never had a problem laughing at themselves in spite of being the comedic butt of the joke.

In this hyper-sensitive modern culture of virtue signalling, easily offended masses…we can all use a look back at a time when colleagues threw around insults like young wolves nip at each others heels, never taking things personally, but rather building a strength of character and wit that stands the test of time.

The Dick Van Dyke show starred of course Dick Van Dyke as Rob Petrie (His real life brother Jerry had a recurrent role, as his brother). A 23 year old Mary Tyler Moore became America’s sweetheart, while starring opposite as Rob’s stay at home wife Laura. The show was created by Carl Reiner, who loosely based it on his personal experiences while writing for a variety show earlier in his career. Carl starred as the celebrity Alan Brady whose fictional variety show was what Rob Petrie wrote for. The scripts and skits where a collaborated effort which incorporated the talents of vaudevillian comedic giants Rose Marie (playing Sally Rogers) and Morey Amsterdam playing the wise-cracking Buddy Sorrell.

Here’s a story, of a made up family. Six boys and girls, two ladies and dear dad. Blended families were not yet the norm then. But Sherwood Schwartz created nothing bad.

The Brady Bunch first aired in 1969 and continued through until 1974, going into syndication the following year continuing to mesmerize young audiences with it’s simplified idealistic family life. The premise, if you’ve yet to see an episode, sees a widow, played by Robert Reed, with three sons, marry a woman played by Florence Henderson, who has three daughters. As if this wasn’t enough people living under one roof, stay-at-home mom Carol, gets a live-in housekeeper / assistant, Alice, as part of the deal when she marries Mike Brady.

The show has stood the test of time by focusing on universal childhood/ teenage dilemmas: sibling rivalry, battles of the sexes, self-esteem and other coming of age traumas, rather than political upheavals or current events from the time in which it was produced. The show also dealt with jealousies / insecurities that are unique to blended families. Issues are always addressed without violence and in the end even the kids have a reasonable maturity. There never seems to be any real financial stress on the family, save for one episode about responsibilities and a telephone, which for most large or blended families watching, really was an escape from reality.

The Time Tunnel

The time tunnel is a top secret project that allows Drs. Tony Newman and Doug Phillips to travel in time. However these first experiments don’t always go off exactly as planned and the educated explorers find themselves tumbling into situations that put their respective knowledge, ingenuity and courage to the test, as the link with the laboratory and present day is not always stable. The pair of American scientists, now swirl in a maze of ages up and down the time line. Randomly dropping into a new fantastic situation, these adventurers are monitored and aided whenever possible by their partner scientists who maintain and power the tunnel at its source.

Created by 20th Century Fox, the Time Tunnel aired on ABC for just a single season between 1966 and 1967. But American television being what it was in the 60s; they gave us 30 whole episodes to enjoy. Robert Colbert and James Darren star in this sci-fi time travel adventure series which was shot in full color. The series is set, realistically just two years ahead of it’s broadcast time, in 1968.

The time tunnel, so named because of the psychedelic hallway that results from a major government endeavor to build a time machine called project Tic-Toc. The experiment Tic-Toc is based in Arizona, in a massive hidden subterranean structure than extends 800 floors below the surface of the ground. The time travelers share a joint direction of top secret project with Lt. General Heywood played by Whit Bissell. Dr Anthony “Tony” Newman is played by James Darren and Dr. Douglas Phillips is played by Robert Colbert. Scientific specialists monitoring and assisting these daring heroes are John Zaremba as electronics expert Dr. Raymond Swain and the beautiful Lee Meriwether as Dr. Ann MacGregor who keeps tabs on the travelers bio signatures and monitors the relative stresses of force and heat that the travelers are exposed to by the tunnel. We are told that the complex in total employs over 12000 specialists that help maintain and securely run the facility.
