With the feel of “true crime” dramas, that started in the 80s, Project U.F.O. revolves around a fictional division within the United States Air Force, tasked with investigating UFO sightings and encounters. The show follows the efforts of two officers, Captain Ben Ryan (Edward Winter) and Sergeant Harry Fitz (Caskey Swaim), as they investigate various UFO-related incidents. Their mission is to evaluate the validity of the sightings, determine whether there is a scientific explanation, and keep the truth hidden from the public when necessary (X-files fans should like this).

Each episode, following police investigation procedures (of the time), presents a new case for our personable military detectives. Captain Ryan and Sergeant Fitz collect evidence and hear eyewitness accounts of UFOs, discovering both government cover-ups, and encounters with extraterrestrial beings. The late 1970s saw a fascination with the unknown and Project U.F.O. in its storytelling combination of mystery, suspense, and scientific inquiry gave the public what it craved.

Today the internet is rife with reports and stories of unexplainable phenomena. Project U.F.O. predates everyone having such access to information, but you’ll find similar stories being highlighted.
