Running Scared

Running Scared hit the theaters in 1986

Running Scared is an action packed comedy starring Billy Crystal as Danny Costanzo and Gregory Hines as Ray Hughes, two Chicago cops who get caught up with a ruthless drug dealer. Billy’s natural ad-lib wisecracking personality is nicely balanced by Gregory Hines exceptional timing and physicality. For an action film, it downplays the gory side of violence and allows for a much more family oriented, enjoyable watch. Not to be confused with the 2006 movie by the same title.

In Running Scared police detectives Danny and Ray are double crossed by an informant, in an attempted drug sting. But they manage to survive, because of two undercover agents are also present at the moment of their intended execution. The informant is shot dead and the undercover police are revealed prematurely; so the comedic duo do not get the hero’s welcome they expected for arresting the drug lord. Instead, they are sent on vacation.
